A vegan on a bummer has less emissions than a meat eater on a bicycle: Meat costs and vegan savings
This is really interesting: http://suprememastertelevision.com/bbs/board.php?bo_table=sos_main
A vegetarian riding a hummer has less emissions than a meat eater riding a bike. "
Over a 1 year period, emissions from.. (per person)
-> for a meat eater: same as driving a mid-sized car 4758 km
-> a vegetarian: same as driving a mid-sized car 2427 km (about 50% less)
--> a vegan: same as driving a mid-sized car 627 km (87% less emissions than a meat eater, about 1/7!)
--> organic vegan diet: same as driving a mid-sized car 281 km (94% less emissions than a meat-based diet! )
A vegetarian riding a hummer has less emissions than a meat eater riding a bike. "
"a visit to a slaughter house would be one a vegetarian forever".
& just for info:
vegan ≠ vegetarian
A vegan diet is a strict vegetarian diet. a vegan does not eat eggs, milk, or use any animal products including honey, leather, silk (silkworms are boiled alive to get the silk, but there's one indian company that lets them free off before taking the silk) etc.
Because at first the vegetarian diet was purely veg. but then after a while, ppl started to eat this and that. some claimed to be veg but ate fish, some claimed to be veg but ate only poultry. so to differentiate, one guy called Donald Watson, took the first few letters and last few letters of the word vegetarian to form the new word "vegan". it's called 全素 'quán sù' in chinese, like full-time vegetarian. so less emissions from a vegan diet. on top of that there is organic vegan and raw vegan and many others. so just being veg is quite simple already :)
