Lifestyle changes for a better world

If the lion is to lie near the lamb peacefully, shouldn't we do it first?

Just found out that 90% of the ocean's largest fishes have been gone due to overfishing, and most of the fish are fed to the pigs. Not any ordinary pigs, but the pigs that are bred for livestock.

So, in other words:
grain + corn + fish + 1/3 of the world's land --> pigs (+ thousands of galloons of water, - 90% of energy) --> (goes to us) humans (+ diseases, pandamics like swine flue + taxes to subsidies the meat from S$70++ or US$30 + taxes to go to hospitals to cure patients)

It looks a lot like a waste of resources. since we only have 30% of the earth's surface as land, shouldn't we treasure this precious amount of land, and stop using up a third of it for animal raising?. we could use the land to grow organic veggies (said that when we grow organic vegetables, the soil would absorb 40% of the carbon dioxide in the air and store it as carbon in the soil) to feed those hungry and it would be very beneficial to us. no more ppl would have to go hungry every night, and no more child would have to die every 5 seconds due to hunger. switching to a plant-based diet would help improve our health and live longer :) the eskimos living in the arctic who feed on meat with very little veggies normally live only up to 27 years of age. that's about 1/4 of our normal lifespan of a hunder years (100 years supposed to be quite a short time too)

well i know it seems hard at first to switch, since it is already a habit to most of us. But if a horse can do it, and a cow can do it, and many celebrities (including americans, yes) can do it, why can't we? Just start by cutting down meat, like normally one huge chunk, to a little portion. then maybe try eating at the veggie stall once a week in sch (it's convinient) for lunch. and increase slowly. This simple step can save lots of lives =)

The Earth is currently overloaded, our oceans are overloaded, we have got to clean up fast. If your parents show disproval just tell them straight that you don't want to eat meat, we know not that meat uses lots of water, excessive amounts of water, and wastes the resources of the Earth, as well as kill lives. many lives, from the forest we clear, to the animals and other animals to feed the animals, and later probably kill humans from the pandamics (worse to come, so switch soon!) and from diseases. make the change today! there's a whole range of veggie meat available, like ham, sausages, fish, prawn, chicken. luncheon meat even. and they're very delicious (to me even more than meat, because when you put the prawn in your mouth, there is this foul smell. and you feel very heavy after eating it, you feel very down, and get irritated very easily, you have a bad temper etc. but when eating veggie meat, you feel lighter, happier, like in no debt, it feels great) after switching, you won't even feel the loss of meat, or miss meat, in fact you'll guarantee be happier and relieved to have made the change. truly it's like that. please try, there's so many reasons to go veg, economic reasons, environmental reasons, compassion reasons, health reasons, so many. and there might be some misconceptions about malnutrition, but there's surely an alternative for the vitamin or mineral you assume is found in meat only. if unsure, can just search the name of the vitamin on google and select the one on vegetarian society. website is http://www.vegetarian-society.org/ (shows you the alternatives and locations of veggie stalls in Singapore. there's lots of them) so please try today. at least one a week, or twice a week.

surely just leaving a piece of meat out for a day will be ok? in fact it would benefit us immensely. really. many ppl have avoided serious illness from colon cancer by eliminating meat from their diet. Just try once today. Explain to your parents. global warming is not going to happen, it is happening. the question is just how we can stop it. wW do not need to wait for green technology, we can just change our diets. scientists have shown that a vegan diet would help in reducing 60% ++ of the emissions. methane from animal agriculture traps heat 72 times more than CO2. but good news is that it does not stay in the air long. so if we change quickily, the situation can be helped. :)
